May Day Bank Holiday and VE Day celebrations a success

We were delighted to host a joyful May Day Festival on Saturday, 3rd May 2025, celebrating spring, community, and local tradition in the heart of the town.
Held in the Market Place, the event welcomed visitors of all ages with a vibrant mix of entertainment from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. The festival featured traditional Maypole dancing demonstrations and workshops, allowing families to learn and participate.
Children enjoyed hands-on activities like flower crown making and watching a classic Punch and Judy show, while Rutland Morris Dancers added colour and energy with lively performances.
Local folk musicians provided a relaxed soundtrack to the day, drawing crowds who stayed to enjoy the festive atmosphere.
The event also coincided with the relaunch of the Melton Town Market. The Town Estate has invested in upgraded gazebos and stall covers for traders, new planters, street furniture, and signage, all part of a wider plan to create a more inviting, accessible, and enjoyable weekly market experience.
Running alongside the town’s VE Day commemorations, the May Day Festival reflected Melton’s commitment to celebrating tradition while investing in its future.
