May Day Festival coming to Melton Market Place

Melton Mowbray Town Estate has announced it is holding a free-to-attend May Day Festival in the Market Place, on Saturday 3 May 2025. Families are invited to join the estate to fill the square with dancing, music and other entertainment and activities.

A celebration of the joys of spring and the beginning of summer, The Melton Mowbray May Day Festival will feature a traditional maypole dance, maypole dancing classes, live folk bands, morris dancing, a Punch and Judy show, and flower crown crafting workshops.

Graham Bett, chair, Melton Mowbray Town Estate, said, “May Day celebrations hold a special place in English rural life, deeply rooted in ancient traditions and customs. The Town Estate is proud to organise this day of festivities and celebration in the heart of Melton Mowbray, and play our part in keeping these traditions alive.”

The May Day Festival begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday 3 May, in
