Melton Mowbray Town Estate Event Village – World Cup Watch Party

It is with considerable disappointment that Tuesday night’s World Cup match between England and Ghana was disrupted by the actions of a few thoughtless individuals.

The power supply for the Events Village was disconnected before the start of the game by people intent on preventing the event from going ahead. This loss of power affected the bars, coolers, screen, and the equipment running the event.

Permanent power to the park had been expected by the start of the summer event season; however, funding to provide a permanent solution is still required. Rather than cancel the events calendar, we have improvised by hiring generators. For Tuesday night’s football match, we drew power for the village from the kiosk.

We can only apologise to everyone whose evening was once again spoiled by the actions of a few disruptive individuals. The police have been informed, and if anyone has any information on who may have been responsible, please contact the Town Estate.

Following the loss of power to the bars and coolers, some attendees left the Event Village to purchase drinks and bring them back into the venue. It was extremely hot, and we completely understand why people chose to do this, but due to our license with the council, we were not legally allowed to let people back into the Events Village.

Acts like the one on Tuesday night will not stop the Town Estate from hosting live events in the town. The remainder of the summer season will continue in a revised format; details are available on our website.

Thank you for your understanding.
