Opportunity: Market Manager for Melton Mowbray Town Estate
Melton Mowbray Town Estate is seeking a dynamic, motivated Market Manager to lead, grow, and manage our historic weekly markets. This is a brand-new, permanent role critical to the development of our local economy and community services.
The role
As the Market Manager, you will be the face of our markets, responsible for everything from day-to-day onsite management to long-term strategic growth. You will work 15 hours per week across three days (10.00am to 3.00pm) , including our busy Tuesday and Saturday markets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Market Development: Identifying and recruiting new traders by visiting competitor markets and building professional relationships.
- On-site Management: Overseeing market layouts, coordinating with the set-up team, and handling trader payments.
- Administration: Managing licenses, risk assessments, social media promotion, and trader communications.
- Strategy: Working with the Chief Executive and organisations like NABMA to expand and improve our market offerings.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a confident, outgoing, and practical “sleeves-rolled-up” individual. While previous experience as a market trader is a plus, we welcome any candidate who can demonstrate the communication skills and drive needed to make our markets thrive.
